For you acne sufferers out there…

September 18, 2008 - 3 Responses

I have to thank my Trish for this one…

(I’m starting this tomorrow so I will let you know how it goes!)

If you have acne and you can’t seem to COMPLETELY get rid of it, no matter what you try, then this is for you!

I have been using the new Avon acne system for a while now, and it is AWESOME!  My face hasn’t been this clear in a very long time.  It isn’t totally clear though, I still have a few slight blemishes here and there.  So, this “country doctor” trick might be the final kick I need to get rid of the acne.

Get a triple-pack of baker’s yeast from the store, get some orange juice, (the real kind, not sunny d) put the yeast into a small juice cup, add in orange juice to almost fill the cup… hold your nose and down it!

Do this for three days, in the morning.  Don’t drink dark sodas or anything with caffeine.  After the three days you should start to see a difference, if you have a very severe case of acne, do the cleanse for 7 days.

Interested?

It has been a little while since I posted anything here. Mostly because at least one person has been sick in my house, on any given day, over the last week or so.

Lot’s of really exciting things are going on over the next few weeks though! The first of which, I’m super, SUPER excited about… my newest niece, Sheradon Linni, will be arriving sometime around 8 am tomorrow morning!!!!! This kid already has a nickname, which is not an uncommon occurrence in our family! Shelby. That is much nicer than little miss JulieAnn’s “unruly Julie,” but it is still fitting, you see, my niece is having a very hard time coming out of her “shell” so to speak.

edit: Shelbee arrived at 0809 @ 6lbs 10 oz !!!!

Shelbee

Tomorrow is a very busy day! To start out with I actually really need to get to bed in about an hour so that I can be up and ready for the day tomorrow, although I know I won’t be in bed by 8:30. I have to get over to Bub’s early so that I can get him to school, then grab Jakers and JR, head out to my Mom’s and start “hunting.” Then I’m hoping to get a call around 10 to say that Trish is out of surgery and we can see the Shelbers! Then it’s a full day of bargain hunting, gift wrapping, and I have to squeeze some study time in there for the bible study that Mom and I are going to on Thursdays now and and finally we are having a party for Jakers in the evening! ( We also have to find time for lessons for Jake and Julie in there too!)

Saturday is going to be just as packed, I think. We have our other two boys this week-end too so things are going to be very busy and interesting around my house! We have the Autism walk on Saturday morning at Jordan Valley Park, then part of us are going out to my Mom’s house or having her meet us at Wickman’s to get trees and fall decorationy (Yes, this is my own word) stuff! Depending on how much my little sister has annoyed the piss out of me or not will determine what the rest of the day holds there. I may just come home and do my homework! I also have to find time to get the rest of the door prizes together for the Divinely Created: A Gathering of Girlfriends event in October!

Sunday is church and then who knows?

Monday we are going to try to get the upstairs back in order, get Julie’s fan up and start to figure out her room a bit more. Ideally, I would like to get her moved upstairs ASAP so that we can get her new(old) desk out of storage and put into her classroom area.

Tuesday is Jake’s actual birthday and I can’t wait!!!! We have Mommy and Me Music class in the morning then Julie has an appointment, then it’s lesson time, and finally CAKE!!!!

After that, who knows what the week will bring, not to mention all the little curve balls in there too!

I’m also looking for new neighborhoods to put books out in, if you would like one, or you think you have a neighbor that might like one too… visit here!

Clever Public Schools Acts To Benefit Children With Severe Tree Nut Allergies

Props to the Clever Public Schools
I’ve learned that in response to a student having a severe enough
allergy to tree nuts that trace amounts could kill her they have taken
the step of removing all tree nuts from the school including removing
“cashew” chicken from their lunch menu.  (They still use the sauce for
it but there’s no cashews in it.)

It’s great to see a public school take the steps to protect the health and safety of children by going the extra mile.

Now all we need is Springfield Public Schools to remove peanut products… ;)

how
about children with an allergy that severe getting medical assistance
and perhaps receive homebound instruction. At what point in a person’s
life (child or otherwise) do afflictions have to be confronted and
dealt with rather than making everyone else accommodate the afflicted?

Just wondering…

Who
pays for the homebound instruction? Do the parents pay for it on top of
their school taxes or is it paid for by the school district since they
can’t guarantee the safety of the child?

Alexis,

Like it or not, there are children out there who have allergies so
severe that unless the teacher is willing to be trained to use and is
able (legally) to administer the EpiPen on the spot, that child will
die. Do you HONESTLY think that if a child has an allergy with such
severity, there will really be no medical assistance involved? That is
just ridiculous! So I’m just wondering, if that were YOUR child,
wouldn’t you want to protect them?

As for homebound instruction, WE pay for that, not you, not the
school, WE do. However, even though WE pay for our own daughter’s
instruction, because of a life-threatening allergy, we are still
required to pay for the schooling of your child and every other
publicly educated child in the Springfield system through taxes.
(Although, I reconcile this in my mind with us paying for my nephews’
education, that seems to make it sting a little less.)
You aren’t paying for our child’s education, school supplies or
computer equipment, we are. Granted, we are doing it for the safety of
our daughter and less to accommodate you, but the fact remains that we
are the responsible party when it comes to that bill.

Let me lay this out for you, so that you are aware of what we are NOT asking you to give up…

Our daughter is in less than 1% of peanut allergy patients that have
both a topical (that means on the skin) and an anaphylactic ( in her
mouth, nose, throat and lungs) reaction together. She is even further
into the less than 1% of THAT group with a slow-onset reaction, which
is literally the thing that has saved her life on more than one
occasion.
I could very easily go to Springfield Public Schools and take her
medical records, EpiPens, a bag of peanuts and an emergency medical
team along with Julie and show them the reaction she would have and how
to treat it. ( I would never do that to her BTW) But it simply wouldn’t
matter, because unless I could then get all of the parents at her
schools to then stop using ALL peanut products entirely, she is still
in danger. So we are accommodating YOU. By not going to the school
board and not demanding that something be done, we are making YOUR life
a little easier and you don’t even know it.

As far as the cashew thing goes… cashews are expensive and to be
honest, it is very rare when I actually see a kid at the elementary
ages we are talking about, eat them. So this is saving Clever some
wasted (literally) money. No cashews = more computers, paper, pens,
ect. )

Well, We’re gonna do it…

After much consideration and many conversations with each other and with parents, teachers and varrious staff with SPS, we have decided to fully homeschool Julie.  When trace amounts are enough to kill her, I don’t think we can afford to take the chance.   I’m hoping to ord4er the pre-school cirriculum by the week-end so that she can get started.  If she does well there and I can get her tested we may start Kindergarten early.  I’ll keep you updated.

Move over Reece…

Now you all know that I love Reese Witherspoon, she is Avon’s first ever Global Ambassador for Women, but I fear that she is losing one coveted title.  That is the Title of America’s Sweetheart… I now think that title belongs squarely to Mrs. Sarah Palin.

Just my personal opinion…..   :)

Behold! I have a MOP!!!!

September 4, 2008 - Leave a Response

Well, I went back to Target and exchanged the Orange Glo cleaner for the mop system this afternoon.  I love it!

I didn’t find that it made the floors too slippery, the dog didn’t even slide when she was “chasing” a car across our living room earlier.  ( Not sure if that is a good thing or not)  The floor has a great shine to it, too!

I’m a happy customer there!

However,  I went to get my mails done today at ExpoNail on Kearney St. in Springfield tonight and I was not so pleasantly surprised.   I’ve been there before and the staff is great!  Normally my nails are done to perfection, not this time though.  There is extra acrylic under some of my nails, bubbles in the acrylic on top (noticeable bubbles) and before they put the top coat on this time the nails weren’t even that smooth.

Now, in their defense, my nail tech did look a little tired.  So I’m hoping that this is a one time only thing.  I’ll give it another try some other time and see how it goes.

No mop

I’ve been trying to find something that I really like to clean our hardwood floors.  I finally found some of the Orange glo stuff that my Grandma was telling me about a few weeks ago, so I picked it up at target today, very happy with my purchase!!!

Only to come home and find out that I don’t have the right MOP!

I’m thinking about taking the cleaner back and getting the whole set which is only 6 dollars more.  :)

Hey, it’s an excuse to go back to target!

I don’t think I can stay here….. ;0(

Yesterday was Bryon’s first day of “real” school.  He went to pre-school last year, but this is the BIG TIME!

I will write more about this later on in the morning but I wanted to share a funny little story with you now.

So we are at the school and we are waiting to see if they are going to let him start today because there was a small issue with his shot records.  (resolved with no extra shots for my big boy: Praise God!!!!)  I’m fanatically taking pictures and making faces at him as he is standing in the office with his Dad, then I see it.  That infamous little wiggle he does, the potty dance.  He taps on Kenny’s leg and tells him that he has to go and Kenny looks panicked for about two milliseconds until I mouth the “do you want me to take him?” question.  Bry doesn’t even wait for his Dad’s answer, he comes right to me and says ” I gotta go!”

So I’m looking for this bathroom and I can’t find it, I ask the school nurse and she gives me this look like “I have NO idea where it IS!” Luckily, a passerby overheard us and directed us the right way.  ;0)

We get to the bathroom, everything is great!  He likes the colors, thinks it’s really cool that the lights just “come on like that!” He enters the stall, I hear the door slide shut and the lock click, then it happens… I hear the same thing in reverse followed by this: “Nini, (very serious, mind you) I don’t think I can stay here today, I need to go home, now.”  I looked at him and asked him why he couldn’t stay at school today.  His response was barely a whisper, “The toilets are automatic flushers!” His eyes were huge, THIS was a very serious problem!  ( He has NEVER liked automatic toilets, EVER)

I’m smiling at him, trying hard not to giggle because I don’t want him to think that I’m making fun of or laughing at him, I just really think he’s adorable at that moment.  So I somehow control myself and I simply ask him if he sees a red, blinking light on the toilet, he says that he does and I said “That’s great!”  He looked at me like I had lost my mind.  I told him to go back in the stall lock the door and put his hand over the light, go pee and then push the flusher button when HE was ready.  BOOM!  Big smile, an “OK!!” and 30 seconds later I see Bry come around the corner with a huge grin, “It worked!” he said.  He washed his hands, got his own paper towel and we went out to greet the rest of his day.

We walked him to class after that and stayed for a little bit, but by 9 we were leaving.  He was ready!

I called him this afternoon to ask him about his first day at the Big K and what he learned.  His response was precious! “Nini, that toilet trick, it worked ALL DAY!”

Who knew the most important thing (to him) that he learned all day was how to use the toilet, his way?

I need to get rid of some stock!
